Dietitians are University-trained health professionals who can give expert advice about food and nutrition, at all stages of life.
Our NDIS dietitians can help improve a participant’s health through education, expert advice and nutritional interventions which are targeted towards their needs.
Some examples of how a dietitian might help include:
- Conducting a nutritional assessment to determine a participant’s needs for intervention
- Providing practical advice to improve current eating habits
- Learning how to prepare healthier meals
- Creating a suitable meal plan for the participant and support workers to follow
- Education on various nutrition topics, such as hidden sugars, label reading, increasing fibre, reducing sodium and recipe modification
- Educating carers and support workers about a participant’s nutritional needs
- Working with fussy eaters to improve nutritional intake
